Guidelines & Policies

Advertiser Guidelines

These guidelines cover generalized examples of misconduct for informational purposes. We reserve the right to deny or request changes to a campaign for any reason, even if it is not explicitly listed in these guidelines.

Rights & Ownership

All content you publish to the Adlily platform must be your own or have specific permission from the rights holder to use it. You are not permitted to submit any content that you do not own or have explicit authorization to use.

Your content may be used by Adlily for promotional purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, displaying your content on our website, social media, or other promotional materials.

Copyright Infringement & Takedowns

If you believe that your intellectual property rights have been infringed upon, please contact us via our Discord Server or by emailing us at [email protected].

Prohibited Content

Adlily ensures that all posters displayed on the Adlily platform are appropriate for all audiences. We will reject campaigns that link, contain, or reference content that we do not deem appropriate.

Hateful or Inflammatory Content

While we respect your right to free speech, and we encourage you to express yourself, we take a strong stance against discriminatory or inflammatory content.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Offensive language or racial slurs. We understand that some words may be used in a playful or joking manner, but we will not allow them on the Adlily platform.
  2. Negative, derogatory, or violent content.
  3. Controversial or sensitive topics, for example, you may not upload content that encourages political ideologies, religious beliefs, or other controversial topics.
    1. We reserve the right to selectively enforce this policy and provide publishers the ability to opt-out of displaying content that may be considered controversial or sensitive.
    2. Extreme or polarizing views are not allowed under any circumstances, for example, Holocaust denial or other extreme views.

If you are unsure if your content is appropriate, please contact us via our Discord Server or by emailing us at [email protected] prior to creating a campaign.

In short, be respectful of others. Content should be positive and inclusive of all people, including those that may hold different views than you.

Sexual Content

Campaigns that link, contain, or reference sexually explicit content are not allowed on the Adlily platform. Be mindful that this policy extends to content that may not be overtly sexual but could be construed as such.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Nudity or partial nudity.
  2. Suggestions of sexual activity.
  3. Prostitutes, escorts, or other sexual services.
  4. Overly suggestive or provocative poses. You may not act out sexual positions or prominently highlight erogenous areas.
  5. Sexually explicit or suggestive language.

Suggestive blush, lingerie, and swimwear are allowed as long as they are not sexually suggestive or provocative. Be mindful that your content will be displayed in worlds that may be used by minors.

Illegal Content

Under no circumstances may you upload content that is illegal or promotes illegal activity as defined by the laws of the United States of America. We will report any egregious illegal activity to the appropriate authorities and suspend associated accounts.

Irrelevant Content

Adlily respects the culture and communities that exist within Virtual Reality, and we work to organically connect and foster these spaces by empowering the ventures that exist within them, such as worlds creation, event organization, and media that makes these spaces unique.

In order to maintain the integrity of the platform, we limit or restrict content that is not sufficiently relevant to Virtual Reality and the spaces around it.

Content advertised within the platform must adhere to one of, but not limited to, the following categories to be considered relevant:

  1. Events or gatherings that take place within Virtual Reality.
  2. Virtual products such as worlds, avatars, or other assets.
  3. Physical products related to the extended utility of VR, such as VR headsets, controllers, trackers, or other accessories.
  4. Communities, services and social platforms built upon or catering uniquely to VR and its ecosystem.
  5. Yourself or your brand as a creator, artist, or developer within VR.
  6. Media that is created within VR, such as videos or music, or other forms of entertainment related to VR.
  7. External merchandise and products depicting or referencing culture or imagery related to VR, for example, a plushie of an avatar.

Certain platforms may impose additional restrictions on content that is displayed on their platform. For example, VRChat has a strict policy on the advertisement of competitive platforms. We will not display content that violates the policies of the respective platform and you must agree to their policies prior to creating a campaign.

Adlily, as a core philosophy, takes a hard stance against big corporate advertising unrelated to virtual reality as we feel the possible short term profit would be far outweighed by the damage that poisoning VR communities and spaces with corporatized content would cause. In short, we are community-first at heart.

Mature Content

Advertisers may choose to mark their campaigns as mature, and will be displayed in worlds that have chosen not to opt-out of displaying mature content.

Content in violation of our Prohibited Content guidelines will be rejected regardless of whether or not it is marked as mature, we do not allow explicit content on the Adlily platform.

We expect advertisers to use their best judgment when deciding whether or not to mark their content as mature. Mature content must be marked as such but you may choose to mark your content as mature for any reason.

A few examples of content that may be considered mature include:

  1. Your primary audience is adult-oriented, for example, advertising a drinking event or other adult-oriented activity.
  2. Excessive profanity or other explicit language.
  3. Imagery or references to alcohol, drugs, or any other illicit substances.
  4. Provocative, suggestive poses or imagery.

Be mindful that marking your content as mature provides zero guarantees that your content will only be shown to adult audiences. Expect your content to be potentially displayed to minors, as in, don't upload content that you wouldn't want your children to see.

We expect publishers to use their best judgment when displaying mature content and we may take action against publishers that intentionally display mature content in worlds that are targetting children. We encourage publishers to age-gate their worlds if they intend to display mature content, but this is not a requirement.

Content Quality

Adlily strives to display high quality content on the Adlily platform. We will reject campaigns that contain content that does not meet our standards.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Posters that are excessively low quality or blurry.
  2. Posters that are intentionally designed to be extremely visually jarring, infuriating or unpleasant to the viewer.
  3. Campaigns that are poorly cropped, or where text, images, or any content is cut off. Don't crop your content in a way that makes it difficult to read or understand.
  4. Campaigns that are excessively pixelated or distorted due to low effort or poor quality. Exemptions may be made for content that is intentionally styled for artistic purposes.
  5. Campaigns that are misrepresented or misleading. You may not distribute misinformation or imply information that is not true.

You must provide accurate information about your campaign to our system to ensure we can properly review it and best optimize delivery to the correct audiences.

Accomodations for Multiple Images

Advertisers are only required to provide one image fitting a single aspect ratio for their campaign. Advertisers may, however, fulfil as many aspect ratios in a single campaign as they like.

Images within a campaign may differ greatly in format and appearence as long they they ultimately promote the same content and correctly fit all content tags of the campaign.

This can include repositioning and resizing elements, adding or removing images, paraphrasing text, and changes to sylistic templating.
